Langtang is a narrow valley, that lies just south of Tibet boarder, sandwiched between main Himalayan range to the northern and a slightly lower range of snow clad peaks to the south. This high and isolated region is habituated by people of Tibetan origin, who practice Buddhism.
Gosainkunda is situated at an altitude of 4,380 meters and cradled amidst craggy peaks, Gosainkunda Lake is one of the most famous pilgrimages of Nepal. Thousands of people trek to this glacial lake every August. The trek passes through varied landscapes ranging from evergreen forest, cascading waterfalls and turbulent streams to alpine grass and barren mountainsides. Besides the famous Gosainkunda Lake, the other lakes in the neighborhood are Nagkunda, Bhairabkunda, Saraswatikunda and Surajkunda.
The mountain lake in Gosain Kund is the main attraction of this trek. It is one of the famous pilgrimages of Hindus. The eventful trek of Gosain Kund passes through the romantic and varied landscape ranging from evergreen forest, cascading waterfalls and turbulent streams to the arid, barren and wind country. Trekking passes through Shepra and Tamang inhabitant. Tamangs of this region have preserved their unique tradition and life style.
